To some, we might appear as
father-and-daughter. Yet we've been married many years and I'm pleased to report that
despite our considerable age disparity, the marriage is successful by all measures. The
truth is we both were single and unattached when we met by serendipity. Looking back, I
can only believe it was magic. I'm fond of saying it was meant to be.
I had traveled to Atlanta to deliver a luncheon talk to the
local chapter of Women In Communication and Janice Elaine Still, public relations person,
was to introduce me. She held up my career resume and told our audience "It says here
that Mr. Lindeman jumps rope good. If his talk is no good, we'll just ask him to jump rope
for us.
Afterward, Jan Still said "I hope you didn't mind me making fun of
you."
"Its been a long time since a woman made me laugh at
myself," I remember saying. Later that night, emboldened, I telephoned this much
younger woman and asked her out for a drink
